Accessories Spotlight: Dior a Versailles

When it comes to opulence and grandeur in the world of architecture, there aren’t many properties that can compare to the palatial grounds and interiors of Château de Versailles. What began as a ‘simple’ hunting lodge for Louis XIII was transformed into the lush and expansive property we see today thanks to his son, Louis XIV. A must-see when visiting Paris, it’s filled with gilded apartments, extravagant chandeliers dripping in crystals, the hall of mirrors, the marble Trianon, spectacularly manicured gardens and of course is home to the Museum of French History housing hundreds of priceless pieces of french artwork.

Arguably one of the finest structures of French Baroque design, it’s no wonder Dior’s jewelry creative director, Victoire de Castellane, was inspired by this architectural masterpiece to create a 60-piece collection full of over-the-top indulgent pieces worthy of the men and women that once lived within the walls of the palace. “I imagined Versailles by night, where the stones glistened in the candlelight.” The intricate and lavish collection showcases chandelier earrings, immense cocktail rings (worthy of being kissed), tiered necklaces, bracelets and brooches, all created using only the finest cut, clarity and colored diamonds, sapphires (pink and blue), emeralds, scorched silver, rubies and a variety of golds (pink, white and yellow).

One thing is for sure, it would be impossible not to feel like royalty when donning when of these pieces. See the collection above!
