Alberta Ferretti AW18

One things is clear: this Fall, Alberta Ferretti’s empowered female is far from delicate.

In what could be the biggest departure from the conventional for this brand, Alberta Ferretti presented a line-up of studded denim jumpsuits (yes, denim), oversized leather topcoats, heavy hardware on accessories, and massive shoulder pads with no tulle or chiffon in sight. Not only is this collection appealing to today’s modern woman, but it is also attracting the attention of millennials – if not with the unapologetic vibes of the collection, then certainly with the models who walked her show: Kaia Gerber opened and Gigi Hadid closed the presentation.

As the designer explains backstage: “Women today have changed, and fashion needs to speak in a different way. It shouldn’t be so correct, it should show personality.”

The 80’s retro vibes with high wasted trousers and fuzzy colorful sweaters were certainly complementary of this new fierce female Ferretti is designing for now. But romanticism was not completely forgotten – there were more than a few standout ultra-shinny floor lengths gowns to keep us inspired and ready for the ball.
