Beauty Must-Haves: Sensitive Skin Favorites

Let’s be honest, having sensitive skin sucks. While your friends are hitting up Sephora and testing out all the new products, you’re left reading the ingredient list to make sure your face won’t freak out at the mere sight of a new moisturizer.

The thing is, not every product is made for everyone. So if your face starts to burn, sting, or becomes super red when using a new formula, the chances are you have sensitive skin. But the good news is, there are some amazing products out there that have been designed especially for sensitive skin and are free from irritating ingredients like PEGs, mineral oils, petrochemicals, GMOs and synthetic colours.

African Botanics Pure Marula Cleansing Oil
This antioxidant and omega-rich cleansing oil is designed for all skin types including thirsty, problematic, inflamed and sensitive skin. Formulated with a distinct African oil complex of anti-inflammatory Marula, Moringa and Baobab it deeply cleanses, dissolves makeup, pollution, surface impurities, skin congestion and SPF without causing irritation or skin dehydration. It’s also completely free of silicones, mineral oils, parabens, allergens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs and SLSs.

Go-To Exfoliating Swipeys
We all know exfoliation is an enormously vital part of any skincare routine, but not all exfoliation is created equal. Chemical exfoliation, for example, (the use of naturally-occurring acids to remove dead skin cells, usually AHAs or BHAs) tends to give a far more thorough, even result than scrubbing your face with harsh, jagged particles. These single-use facial pads are soaked in an all-natural solution that perfectly exfoliates and hydrates the skin without the use of parabens, PEGs, sulfates (SLS/SLES), GMOs, mineral oils, petrolatum and synthetic colours.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum
This super-potent vitamin C day serum is packed with a powerful antioxidant complex, essential nutrients, fruit enzymes and a chronopeptide that provides the benefits of vitamin D, all working together to firm and brighten the appearance of skin while improving the signs of photoaging. It also has a pH level of 3.3 – 3.5, which Drunk Elephant believes is the key to a non-irritating, effective formulation that delivers real results. One of the best things about Drunk Elephant is that all of their products are free from what they call the “Suspicious 6”. This means you won’t find any essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical screens, fragrance/dyes or SLS’s in their formulas, making them suitable for every skin type.

Avene Tolérance Extrême Cream
Ideal for allergy-prone types, Avène Tolerance Extreme Cream is formulated with only seven ingredients to ensure maximum tolerance. Like all Avène skincare products, the key ingredient in this formula is Avène Thermal Spring Water, which works to soothe, calm and soften the complexion. The rich, non-greasy texture allows for optimal fusion with the skin while delivering soothing and moisturizing properties in a rapidly absorbing cream.

Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40
This soothing sunscreen delivers super broad-spectrum SPF 40 protection with a delicate touch, perfect for face or body. It provides physical UV protection while helping to calm redness and safeguard against photoaging such as hyperpigmentation. The gentle formula was developed with olive polyphenols, which are rich in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, and known to reduce the appearance of redness, irritation, and inflammation. The lightweight, hypoallergenic formula is ideal for even the most sensitive skin and is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
