Caresse Resort and Spa Bodrum

Where to start with a resort like Caresse In Bodrum, Turkey… Let’s start with the basics shall we?

Set within miles of beach front real estate, this contemporary property, comprising some 67 rooms and 9 suites, sits nestled between unspoiled hills with views across the Aegean to the town of Bodrum and beyond, the Greek island of Kos. On site it boasts a ESPA spa, indoor pool with a touch of the Far East about it, outdoor infinity pool, three bar-come-restaurants sponsored by Maserati with a fourth to open this summer, pebbly beach and private pontoon where you can find one or two of the resorts four yachts moored (one of which, Katie, was used in Bond’s Casino Royale).

The feeling of exclusivity strikes you as soon as your experience begins at Bodrum airport (or indeed if you arrive by boat), where you will be shuttled in a private vehicle straight to Caresse’s front door. The friendly guest services team are there to greet you and from here you can curate your perfect stay.

The service provided by every team member deserves a mention – it’s the kind of resort where they’ve done all the thinking for you. From a traditional apple tea as soon as you arrive from a long day travelling, the fresh fruit bowl and fridge stocked with ice cold water in your room to the cosy blankets the team bring with your Aperol Spritz come the evening when there’s a chill in the air. Plus they recommend the best Turkish meals in town – not fancy, just an excellent spot with food you’ll remember forever. Nothing is too much trouble for the team here and every request is met with a genuine smile and a super-speedy reaction. Probably why they’ve been awarded the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice award for two years running.

Our trip was all about rest and relaxation, so a morning spent in the spa was a must. Choose from any of the exquisite 90 minute massages and you’ll be left in a dreamy haze all day, we’d suggest doing nothing more than lazing by the pool in the afternoon sun in your robe and slippers to ‘recover’.

The food it great too – the Glass restaurant under the guidance of head chef Baransel Duman provides a contemporary take on a traditional menu, whilst he’s quite the chocolatier too (just take a look at his Instagram account).

There’s further big plans for 2018, with on-site boutiques, a juice bar and spaces for contemporary art exhibitions all planned ready for peak season. Though Bodrum itself as all the beautiful charm of a Turkish getaway, you’d need not ever leave this resort, with everything you could possibly need in a luxury vacation – indeed we considered how long we could get away with staying…
