CFDA / VOGUE Fashion Fund Awards

Last night, the 13th annual CFDA awards gala took place at Spring Studios and awarded the husband-and-wife design duo Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock of Brock Collection first prize.

“You have to make your own luck”, stated key-note speaker Michael Kors, who presented the awards to the Parsons New School of Design alums ($400,000 plus a year of business mentorship via CFDA members) as well as runner-ups, Stirling Barrett of Krewe du Optic and Adam Selman (who both received $150,000 each).

The other 2016 nominees included Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area, Chloe Gosselin, Ji Oh, Morgan Curtis of Morgan Lane, Maryam and Marjan Malakpour of Newbark, Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper of Rochambeau and Chris Stamp of Stampd.

Brock Collection originally debuted in 2014 (on modaoperandi.com no less) and since then has escalated to having their goods sold at favorites like Barney’s, The Apartment by The Line, Maxfield and Jeffrey. A breath of fresh luxurious feminine womenswear, their strong construction and keen eye for design and fabric manipulation helped them to win the coveted prize and proves that we’ll be hearing and seeing much more from them in the future.
