Collection Spotlight: Alexandre Birman SS15

Spring is a time of tropical explorations, sex appeal in its sleekest format and feminity oozing out of pastel pinks. When it comes to footwear, Alexandre Birman’s 2015 collection has hit the nail on the proverbial head. His shoe designs were awash with snakeskin and suede, found in deep blacks to innocent lilacs. From the pink snakeskin stiletto mules to the careful, the arch of the stiletto curved and elegant, to the bejeweled lace-up sandals, Birman had elegant, modern women in mind when he created this collection. Every ladylike design was met with an extra touch, the tan suede sandals adorned with a casually flicked bow on the framework, the lilac sandals replacing an ankle strap with a wider side-strap. For the fiercer footwear, Birman experimented with laces, choosing chunky ones for the royal blue, knee-high sneakers, and croc high tops. And on the softer designs? Delicate laces wrapped up caged, lattice-effect black booties. The theme was a synergy of strong and sweet, but the variations came in unique, individual creations. On the simple designs, there were licks of the Birman Spring signatures, like a thumbnail of leathery snakeskin on the blue suede strap sandals, and a set of wavy straps and a slick of white on the snakeskin mules.
