Culture: Vogue Italia Photo Festival

Calling all art and photography lovers, time to book your flights, because Milan here we come! November 15th – 19th you can be part of Vogue’s Photo Festival, also known as the “ultimate fashion photography festival.” Making its second annual debut in partnership with Vogue Italia, one can experience legendary photography throughout the city’s most coveted art spots, including Fondazione Prada, Kaufmann Repetto and Palazzo Reale to name a few.

Some exhibition highlights from last year’s festival included The Female Gaze (featuring work by female photographers including Yelena Yumchuk, Aida Muluneh and Juno Calypso, LA-based artist Vanessa Beecroft), Fashion is a Body and Live Fast Die Young. Not convinced yet? This is your chance to witness fashion history as the summit continues to make its mark as the only international festival fully curated and dedicated to fashion photography with direct association and credibility to a legendary fashion publication.

The main goal of the festival? To create a hub in one of the most influential and fashionable cities in the world where experts and amateur fans gather as one community to share genuine love and interest in all things photography. This year’s festival is headed by Vogue Italia’s Senior Photo Editor, Alessia Glaviano and sponsored by Audi.

Although a formal schedule of events has not been released, one can expect a monographic exhibition theme and continued discussion on controversial political topics. Now through September, a highly qualified panel of experts including the likes of Bruce Weber, Judith Thurman of The New Yorker and Paul Moakley of TIME will be judging candidates to confirm their participation in the upcoming festival.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we think it is safe to say that this ridiculously chic festival is all types of priceless. See photos from last year’s festival above and stay tuned for a recap of this year’s festivities later this year.
