Designers To Watch: Bendigo Frames

– By Rebecca Prusinowski –

Ever pass a style maven on the street and double back because you simply had to know where she got her look?  Well that happened to us last week.  Working in fashion, we see our fair share of unique accessories.  But the sunglasses we spotted in Chelsea were particularly enticing: an oversize cat eye shape with a natural woodsy twist.

The answer was Bendigo Frames, a recently hatched eyewear brand inspired by the raw landscapes of Montauk, NY and made on the streets of Venice Beach, CA. Founder – and full-time costume designer/stylist Mirren Gordon-Crozier – spent her childhood summers on the sleepy South Fork beach town but now calls Venice home.  A tribute to the two sandy locales, her sunglasses’ texture evokes Montauk’s rugged drift wood beaches while their dramatic shape adds a touch of Old Hollywood flair.  The Bendigo line is a beautiful bi-coastal mashup and unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Distribution for the nascent brand is limited, but you can email the company to place an order – we did. Because there’s nothing cooler than stopping someone in their tracks.
