Designers to Watch: Giuseppe Della Badia

There are a few words we could use to describe the incredible talent that is Giuseppe Della Badia; for instance, smart, creative, and even a visionary. His journey didn’t start off on the straight and narrow path of fashion, earning a law degree in order to please his family, however, in the back of his mind he always wanted something more. He began to draw frequently, noticing a pattern of women, clothing, shoes or jewelry becoming the result of these sketches and decided to follow this calling and enrolled in a Fashion Marketing Masters program in Milan. With the intense ability to draw, Giuseppe wanted his art to come to life, and this rippled into a new found skill, embroidering. The young Master’s graduate started off embroidering and embellishing a few pieces for his friends, but it wasn’t long before Giuseppe’s intricacy and colorful visions were noticed by the industry. Within six months his work could be seen hanging in the windows of Valentino and Fendi and off decadent Elie Saab and McQueen ensembles.

Spending a substantial chunk of his early twenties enriching patterns and adornments for various brand’s dresses and accessories, Giuseppe knew that it was high time he launched something of his own and accessories, he felt, was the most effective way to stand out in the market. Gedebe officially launched in April 2010 and comprises of desirable leather handbags and beautifully constructed shoes. Armed with the ability to curate and embroider colored stones, crystals and sequins into wearable pieces of art, Gedebe brings forth a new era of handbags and shoes that make the wearer feel like royalty. Each piece is structured with the highest quality of leather, and interwoven stones in a plethora of colors and fabrics such as elaphe, python, nappa or suede.

Time goes into the intricate placement of each crystal to ensure the highest finish. Whether it be a symmetrical pattern down the spine of a crossbody bag, that encapsulates a sunset with orange and amber stones, or an image of the night sky embellished onto a knee-high, suede boot. It is clear to see Giuseppe’s awe-inspiring talent come through with each piece, and it is this very signature that sets apart the brand each season.

Gedebe’s Fall 16′ range touches on animal instincts and printed leather. The standout piece of the season has to be the snakeskin calf boots in chocolate and tangerine, with middle zip fastening, surrounded by complimentary crystals. Gedebe’s SS17 collection is inspired by the vibrancy and culture of Cuba. The designer took the island’s vivacious hues and turned them into elements of pop art, metallic and animal printed accessories. For Spring / Summer 2017 we are slightly obsessed with Gedebe’s palm tree printed box bag embellished with bubblegum, cherry, and turquoise gemstones, and topped off with a gold chain handle. And how can we not comment on the new season’s shoe styles; block and stiletto heels adorned with the brightest of jewels and sequins, and the most opulent of fabrics, make for a beating heart.
