Designers to Watch: Paule Ka

Nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing one of your favourite designers making waves in the world of fashion.

Queue our latest obsession: Paule Ka, the genius label of French-born designer Serge Cajfinger who spent his younger years in Brazil before returning to France in 1968. Serge first launched Paule Ke as a boutique store in Lille at the age of 17, selling the work of other Parisian designers he himself admired, before designing his own collections in 1987. Those years of studying clients in his younger years later proved crucial in his career as a reputable fashion designer, adorned by buyers and celebrities alike.

Inspired by the styles of Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn, and the designs of Yves Saint Laurent, it’s easy to understand why two of the prominent components to Serge’s collections are luxury and minimalism, but that’s not to say there isn’t a degree of complexity woven into his works either; one only needs a quick look at the graphic prints, bold colors and flawless structural work to see this.
