Glam Tip: Banish Blemishes

The errant blemish has the power to send otherwise cool and levelheaded girls running for cover, hiding from the public, and canceling dinners and dates.  While there are many products available that treat acne, most contain harsh chemicals, and leave the skin dry and flaky, and your wallet noticeably lighter.   There is an alternative, and most likely, it’s something you already own:  Aspirin and lemon juice. Aspirin  reduces redness and swelling, and also contains salicylic acid, which penetrates oil to unclog pores.  Lemon juice contains citric acid, which will exfoliate the skin, and vitamin C, a well-known antioxidant.  To create a spot treatment for blemish banishing, crush two uncoated Aspirin and add lemon juice, a little at a time, to form a thick paste (consistency is important; too thin and it’ll drip everywhere).  Apply to clean skin, leave to dry, then rinse with warm water, and continue with your normal skin regimen.  As with any new treatment, be sure to always test it out on a small area to ensure there are no adverse reactions.
