Lines We Love: SENTALER

If there’s one thing we’re always on the look-out for, especially being based in NYC, it’s an amazing outerwear brand. Something chic and beautiful but with a level of quality that will also keep us warm for seasons to come. Fortunately, the SENTALER collection had recently come to our attention, (thanks to a fabulous deskside appointment) and with Winter right around the corner, we couldn’t wait to share more about this modern and sophisticated brand.

SENTALER first came to be when designer and Creative Director, Bojana Sentaler, traveled to South America and discovered the beautiful fabric that comes from shearing Peruvian alpacas. Having to withstand much colder temperatures up in the Andes mountains, these animals produce a thick fur that has microscopic air pockets that provide superior thermal insulation while still remaining lightweight and dreamy to the touch. Also, unlike wool, these coats won’t pill, mat, lose shape or fade in color, which considering the wear we put on our coats in the Fall and Winter, are quite important factors. It’s also important to note that while working with alpaca fibre, SENTALER helps families sustain their way of life in the area and are committed to crafting their garments by adhering to cruelty free, sustainable and fair-trade practices.

Bojana was initially headed down a very different path. Born in Belgrade, Bojana grew up in Toronto, and earned a business degree from the Schulich School of Business. After a chance encounter with fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld during her world travels, Bojana began to explore her true passion for fashion and design and we’re quite happy that she did. Since its inception in 2009, this Toronto-based outerwear brand has become a must-have for inspirational women everywhere (Kate Middleton and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau just to name a few) and has provided a high-quality in design, fabrication and style, making each of Bojana’s pieces positively timeless.

In celebration of their latest collection (and having been brought stateside in department stores such as Neiman Marcus and now Saks Fifth Avenue) we’re very proud to bring you the world premiere of the stunning video at the top. Shot by the talented Mike Lewis and featuring Tanya Howard, the first soloist of the National Ballet of Canada, the video is meant to project not only how luxurious each of the pieces are by highlighting the rich hues, texture of the alpaca and defined signature ribbed details, but how they also allow for graceful movements and comfort – even while standing on the tippy points of your toes.

SENTALER coats range in sizes XS to XL, and ship FREE world-wide from their Toronto based showroom. They also create custom pieces so you can truly create something that is one of a kind. Shop the brand now!
