Runway Report: Altuzarra SS18

Joseph Altuzarra was among a few New York show veterans to leave The Big Apple behind and head for Europe. Although, unlike others who chose Paris, London or Milan for commercial reasons, Joseph just actually went home. Born and raised in Paris, we’ve seen an element of Parisian fare in his work over the years, and this season he in the right place at the right time.

Espresso colored leather blazer with cow skin pockets and fabric waist tie was paired with a monochrome striped, high-low dress – a classic lunch-in-Paris ensemble. A few other pieces took on inspiration a little closer to home; Joseph’s grandmother’s home. A mixed-media red and white tablecloth-esque print was patched into a lightweight shirt dress, trimmed with floral embroidery, and topped off with matching biker jacket adorned with black pom poms.

A color palette of tan, tomato, cerulean, monochrome and gold made up a wearable and romantic collection. It may have been Joseph’s closeness to home, it may have been Paris, but something has set the tone for SS18 to be a lovely and loving season ahead, filled with heat-beating style and endearing inspiration.
