Runway Report: Anya Hindmarch Fall 2017

Anya Hindmarch’s Fall 2017 show felt like multi-colored Hygge come to life. The show boasted equal amounts of color as it did cozy texture. Hints of 3D kurbits, Swedish folk art, was seen hanging of bags and clothing, as the models who looked like uber cool mountaineers were gliding down a futuristic hill. The show had a hint of Scandi-cool to it and for a moment we forgot we were in London.

Hues of lavender, yellow, tobacco, raw raspberry, marshmallow pink, baby blue, teal, burgundy, and mustard paraded down the makeshift catwalk. Apres ski inspired knits were paired with satin big girls pants, socks, and shearling lined clogs, backed by an abundance of color-block and ombre fur stoles, ear muffs, and Stephen Jones’s headpieces.

We were blown away by the sun yellow boiled wool coat with in season cut-out shoulder panels and jewel encrusted brooch topped off with a dove gray stole, worn across the arms and bust. Not to mention the pretty lilac cape with dark mustard fur collar, scalloped pocket detailing, styled with a mini bag round the neck and Cutler and Gross sunglasses. The look was polished off with Anya’s new build-a-bag initiative, a collection of Tetris-style pouches which merge and stack into one large carry-piece, launching in May for the woman who loves bags on bags on bags.

Anya, now known for her quirky emoji-fashion and accessories, brought back the ever loved smiley face, this time in a more covetable gold lurex. The googly eyes and smiles could be seen on fuzzy sliders and slippers. Handbag straps got an equal fun upgrade this season, with a fur option as well as a rainbow heart-shaped leather cut-out handle, which is definitely coming home with us come Fall. We say this every season, but what will Anya think of next!?
