October 6, 2015 Runway Report: Balenciaga SS16 “I feel like I’ve graduated; it’s the last day of school”, said Alexander Wang at the end of the Balenciaga Spring Summer 16 show at Paris Fashion Week. It was his Balenciaga farewell after three intense years of amazing collections and a new project ahead: His own brand, Alexander Wang. The great mystery now is the person who will replace him in the creative direction. Who knows. The show was staged in a minimal church with pools elevated in the center of the runway. The protagonist was white in all its glory, from the ruffled slip dresses to the low-slung trouser and crop top pairings. The garments were combined with white lace slippers with floral embellishments. We did not miss handbags and fringe in all its forms. It was all about poetry, girliness and sensuality represented by the most delicate romantic sporty clothes. Overalls, cargo pants with multiple pockets and even fanny packs, the eternal controversial piece.
