Runway Report: Celine SS18

Celine through Phoebe Philo’s eyes has been one of ultimate desire. Building on the classic sensibility of the brand’s past, Philo is taking the structured and poised label to new heights, and her SS18 collection is no different.

There were equal amounts of tan, greige, camel and multiple nude tones all constructed into signature suiting, overcoats, trenches, skirts and asymmetrical dresses. Celine, known for its minimalist chic, pushed the boat out a little with the use of color and prints. There was a high-low pleated skirt with primary colored, color-blocking on a backdrop of bright white which was paired with a long-line shirt, mimicking much the same effect. This was followed by a red, white and noir wide-striped cowl neck dress with irregular hemlines, paired with a sleek pair of black boots – new for Celine but very Celine at the same time. Lest we forget about the showstopper – A peach, grey and white, paintbrush-stroke printed turtleneck top with drop waist, finished off with a long white feather streamed skirt. Genius!

Rumors of Phoebe Philo leaving the Parisian brand were quelled quite some time ago, and judging by her fantastic SS18 collection we hope to never hear a rumor like that again. P.S. We love you.
