Runway Report: Christopher Kane SS18

“She’s a strong, perfect, proper woman but she’s breaking inside,” explained Christopher Kane of his muse for SS18. “It’s what goes on behind closed doors in those everyday environments: the smell of bleach, Royal Doulton figurines, ‘readers wives’ and a certain kind of British sauciness,” he added.

The theme opened the doors to a realm of domestic components, poufy white tops and skirts were inspired by the humble mop, metallic clothes pins were used to hold garments together and doilies were reimagined as collars and cuffs. The designer was determined not to leave any household item untouched.

In true Kane fashion, there were also some beautiful feminine looks, such as a floral embroidered evening jacket, a silk floral slip dress and plenty of sheer lace which added a whimsical touch.

Kane also used the runway to introduce his newest collaboration with Crocs. There were five colorways, yellow, white, black, pink and mint green which were embellished with rhinestones. The Crocs also came in a high top version, with a crystallized piece peeking out from the plastic front.
