Runway Report: Dries Van Noten SS16

There were a mix of sentiments and eras of influence at Dries Van Noten Spring 2016 collection preview.  Attempting to emulate a muse that is flamboyant and unafraid, Van Noten experimented with patterns and collages of color that have a mystic sense of the past redefined – and there is no one who does this better than him.  There was also a clear assertion of the 1940s fit and design aesthetic with vintage block heels and abundantly brocaded overcoats.

Best part of the show – the success around Van Noten’s one critical intention for Spring 2016:  to do it sophisticated and raw at the same time; so bicolor prints, or two tone prints, which when smashed together make an even bigger jolt.

Mission accomplished.
