Runway Report: Emilia Wickstead Fall 2017

There are a handful of English heritage designers who showcase their collections at London Fashion Week, Emilia Wickstead being one of them. Known for dressing the glitterati as well as London’s own Kate Middleton, Emilia is the designer to desire if you were ever in need of a cocktail dress that lights up a room.

As much as evening and occasionwear were on the agenda at Wickstead’s Fall 2017 show, the creative also took the plunge this season to add a little casual flair into the mix by showcasing a slew of denim and a few laid back items for the first time. High waisted mid-blue jeans were mixed in between the showstopping dresses drenched in silk, sequins, and print-on-print day dresses.

The runway show was filled with tonal shades of cornflower blue, slipper pink, bright navy, cloud grays and crimson reds, all constructed into a 9 am to 9 pm wardrobe for the sophisticated femme.

Standout pieces included a pleated cap sleeved casual silk dress, one-half in a floral wallpaper print and the other in a soft cornflower blue, paired with cross-over forest green velvet flats, a Winter sandal if you will. Followed by a velvet paneled a-line dress with delicate mesh paneling flecked with embroidered baby’s breath, pleated blue velour across the bust, and noir down to the ankles. It has to be said that the full-length gold sequined high-neck hourglass dress reminded us of a real life albeit fashionable, oscar award, honorable and timeless.
