Runway Report: Emilia Wickstead SS17

Delicate, prettily feminine mid-length dresses, jumpsuits and flirty thigh-skimming frocks formed the basis of Emilia Wickstead’s spring/summer 2017 collection shown in London this week.

Figure-skimming fluidity felt like a marked move on for the designer, famed for her voluminous shapes and dramatic cascading skirts. Softly pleated tea-length dresses in pale powdery tones felt hugely appealing, with necklaces of embellishment that became a running theme.
The s/s 2017 trend for layering continued, seen more subtly here with transparent silky layers dancing over column skirts or as a lace overlay on a simple frosted yellow cocktail dress.
Cute jumpsuits came in wearable bermuda short or capri lengths, whist a line of paper-bag waisted, tapered gingham pants will surely be top of fans’ wishlists come the new year.
Of course, Emilia’s signature occasion gowns were present, this season comprised of crop tops with matching full skirts and a few options in fun polka dots covering super-clean silhouettes.
