September 19, 2017 Runway Report: Emilia Wickstead SS18 1/11 View Slideshow Emilia Wickstead started the week off on a pretty glamorous high. Slightly adjusting her signature aesthetic, which is somewhat demure, Wickstead introduced her SS18 collection with sheer curiosity; sheer being the pun here. The second look on the runway took the silhouette of a buttoned-up lady dress in pale gray organza, with black taping detail outlining the collar, lapel and belt line, followed by the same style fabric in an off-the-shoulder, gathered sleeved A-line dress. Wickstead didn’t completely leave her modest-yet-chic style behind, as there were still a good amount of shapes that would continue to work for Kate Middleton, who has been sporting the brand since she joined the Royal Family. Take the powder blue, cinched a-line dress with a white turtleneck collar and black criss-cross ribboning on the sleeves, perfect for a Royal Affair. Additionally, we can imagine the Princess looking rather stunning in the dusky millennial rose pantsuit, with long-line jacket and wide palazzo pants. By being a little risque on the runway, Emilia Wickstead not only injected fresh air into her smart-silhouetted brand, but is now on her way to appeal, and attract perhaps a younger and more daring audience, while still staying true to her current customers.
