Runway Report: Givenchy Fall 2017

While the industry awaits the new creative lead at Givenchy, ‘the show must go on’ was the sentiment that the French brand’s design studio seemed to be lamenting on as they prepped for the Fall 2017 showcase. Honoring Riccardo Tisci’s 12-year reign, the in-house team picked 27 key looks from every season Tisci cast his spell on us.

There was a theme of tomato red running through the entire collection, and certain pieces which, once upon a time weren’t constructed in the power color seemed to have been re-hued.  We saw the Fall 13′ half Bambi printed sweatshirt paired with a red eyelet pencil skirt and matching snakeskin boots. Then there was the SS12 fully sequined pantsuit with middle zip fastening, wavy peplum and 3D lapel detailing. Followed by the unforgettable SS14 sequined criss-cross body full skirt maxi dress with sheer paneling, finished off with red stud earrings.

As the new successor of Givenchy is only weeks away from being named, let’s take this opportunity to give a round of applause to the current design team, who clearly thought on their feet and produced something worth talking about and lusting over.
