Runway Report: Givenchy SS17

It was a successful attempt to bring the past into the future as Tisci delivers a collection that is equal parts psychedelic, nuvo earth, and environmentally conscious.

It all started with his choice of geological patterns of prehistoric rocks on frocks, oversized inconvenient statement necklaces with crystal pendants, colorful raised polka dots adorning purses, and ruffled blouses with colossal collars. There was marginal, subtly tangerine eye makeup, porcelain white skin, and slicked back, high-gloss hair – all pointing to minimal upkeep, a concept often referenced in conversations on the future state of fashion. The clothes, however, alluded to sex and femininity – as in familiar Tisci fashion – but took a powerful stance for self-preservation of natural resources.

There was also an elegant selection of black suiting with wide leg trousers, tailored jackets with mega pockets, and low cut bodysuits. Overall, Tisci did an incredible job in clearly conveying his vision of the next version of a superwoman.
