Runway Report: Jil Sander

Monochrome silhouettes and structured cut staples all came into play for Jil Sander’s Fall 17 collection.

The lineup reflected both the minimalist aesthetic of the house and Rodolfo Paglialunga’s discreet, yet quirky approach to fashion. The collection mainly focused on tailored designs that were given extra large proportions resulting in a polished yet nonchalant vibe.

“Everything is very voluminous, fluid, relaxed, feminine,” the designer said backstage.

As an emerging trend for fall 17, shoulders were exaggerated on jackets while trousers were generously proportioned and skirts were softly A-line or tulip-shaped.

The subtle yet incredibly feminine color palette included black, cherry red, tobacco and white, with hints of bright yellow and orange. One of our favorite looks was a tobacco-colored zip-up skirt suit, which was partnered with bright red boots.
