Runway Report: Lanvin Fall 2015

In his usual manifold approach to trencasting, Elbaz presents another heterogeneous collection, which he describes backstage as “an endless game of contrasts”.

Indeed it was – starting with an equestrian, and clearly militaristic-style trouser with a red line running down the sides, navy jacket to compliment, tasseled belt and fringing on the boots.  This was followed by simple yet delicate jersey dresses framed with an asymmetric harness belt.   Next up was untainted Bohemianism – patchwork fur, shearling, and long draping gowns in autumnal colors.

The final act demanded just as much rigor as the first – there was significantly more embroidery and even some florals. That’s the genius of Alber Elbaz – every collection is a jumble of thematics and eras, and it is these unprecedented compilations that make the season exciting and the collection loved by the masses.
