March 4, 2016 Runway Report: Lanvin Fall 2016 1/9 View Slideshow Despite the brand’s illustrious peplum tops, and opulent fur overcoats, there was a noticeable lack of fullness, a void unconquered, at the Lanvin Fall 2016 presentation in Paris. It might have been Alber Elbaz’s aura and touch of sensibility that a few of us missed. The label, which we look to for drama, draping, couture and red carpet, had a slightly different focus. – wearability and easy of use. Think bustiers paired with sharply tailored trousers, and daytime shimmer. There was also a subtle but tactile fabric focus and although draping appears to still be a remarkable best in class skill at Lanvin, the use of velvet versus silk with intricate inserts of lace announces a new era and opens the door for more elevated, smarter daywear and office wear. Extremely wise move in a time where leather rider jackets pair perfectly with tuxedo gowns.
