Runway Report: Lanvin SS17

Bouchra Jarrar presented her first collection for Lanvin in Paris this week and it dictated a new era for the brand.  Starting with the location and time of day it was shown to the collection feel and wearability, Jarrar certainly brought her own vision to life and it was clear her intention is profitability.

As she explained backstage, she wanted to mix the intellectual with the creative. In other words, these were smart clothes, beautifully imagined, easily accessible, meant to be transferable . “Her timeless style is in keeping with the style and the values of our company,” said chief executive Michèle Huiban.

There was still a plethora of dramatic moments with the movement of copious satin asymmetric dresses, rigid ruching for that avant garde factor, oversized cardigans and embellished sweaters –most notably, however, there were more than a few exquisite chiffon, buoyant gowns perfect for an after work fete of the newly defined Lanvin enthusiast.
