Runway Report: Marchesa Bridal SS17

Stepping into the Marchesa SS17 bridal presentation was exactly as they described it to be, ‘a journey through a regal, enchanted garden with flourishing rosebuds and blossoming florals emerging just as the sun rises’ (although in this case it was sunset). A violinist played, champagne flowed and an artist was on site drawing the models live and even with all of that, the gowns and accessories were so spectacular that everything else easily fell to the wayside.

There was the continuing trend within Marchesa collections seen in the ornate embellishments – especially the 3D hand-cut floral petals – like crystals and pearls which found themselves scattered throughout much of the bridal collection. A bit more sexy than in the past, thanks in part to peek-a-boo cutouts, tight bodices made up of layers of blush and nude silk organza and illusions of sheerness via silver lace and tiers of tulle, however those hoping for romance simply had to look around.

And while we all certainly oohed and ahed over the plunging necklines, peplums and floating ballgowns, it was the dramatic jewels (like the pearl ear cuff + chandelier combo) and forward thinking bridal shoes (hello white laser cut caged booties) that has us envious of the newly engaged.
