Runway Report: Miu Miu Fall 2016

Continuing on from the highly praised Prada collection in Milan, Miu Miu unveiled a transitional collection full of country inspired layers and twee details in Paris this week.

The eccentricities of British heritage was an apparent influence, with tweed suits – complete with breeches – and checked outerwear worn over bright Argyle knits. This was followed by an array of tapestry-like florals on frock coats and full-length skirts, teamed with prim twinsets.

Military style outerwear added to the formalities, seen in navy blue with precise pleats, breast pockets and cinched tightly at the waist. Slouchy, wax-coated variations followed, perfect for a weekend spent at the country estate.

Fox fur added a little drama to relaxed jackets, creating a bell-shaped sleeve, or in full, slung nonchalantly over a boyfriend shirt and city shorts. Proceedings came ever so slightly more up to date with denim on denim ensembles. Boxy jackets were paired with maxi skirts, while military touches continued with utilitarian straps used to cheekily hitch up hems.
