Runway Report: Miu Miu SS16

In retro-inspired prints, borrowed-from-the-boys menswear tailoring, and gingham, fur and lace-edged tulle layered up with vintage vibes, Miu Miu told a unique chic story for SS16 as only Miuccia Prada can.  In bejeweled headpieces and deep burgundy lips, models donned mix and match ensembles that spared no pattern, texture or detail, from ruffle-front dress overlays, feather-hemmed collars, art deco embellished plackets, and bubbles sheer sleeves. Rich colors had a retro feel, accented with muted pastel tulle layers.

Pops of inspiration ranged everywhere from Nordic sweater patterns and varsity stripe piping on polo tops.  Longline midi skirts resonated with Hitchcock heroine suiting polish, with patchwork fur stoles slung over shoulders and oversized cat-eye sunglasses lending moments of 50s glamour and lace-up boots and leather bomber jackets borrowed from the trailblazer of another era.  The bottom line?  Miuccia Prada is dressing the femme fatale of the future- a Fearless fashion risk taker, brazen in her bold styling choices.  The Miu Miu woman is dressed to seize the day and make history, and all of Paris and beyond is taking note.
