Runway Report: MSGM SS18

MSGM S/S 2018 collection is as far from minimal as it gets: from colors to shoes to materials, the audience was transported into a world of polychromatic neons and bold logos. Not entirely surprising to most fans, as the brand consistently over delivers in irreverent mix-and-match prints that are as satisfyingly familiar as they are insouciant.

There were mash-ups of knits featuring tie-dyed abstract shapes, ripped edges, and artful distressed detailing on trims.  This was in contrast to precise but oversize trench coats with color-blocking settings and voluminous shoulders and sleeves.  Models walked the runway in red, blue, and white vinyl fabric coats and jackets, reminiscent of 80s windbreakers.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the collection was the footwear, which consisted of either tie-dyed, ruffle adorned socks worn with brightly colored stiletto sandals or boots with triangular-shaped heels. The boots came in the same riot of acid colors and abstract prints as the clothes, and some even with paint-splatters.
