Runway Report: Mulberry SS17

Mulberry has been closely watched since the departure of ex-creative director Emma Hill, and many an editor has uttered the question, “what will Johnny Coca do?” Well, from what we can see of his SS17 range, (his second collection for Mulberry) he seems to be keeping it smart and classic. especially when it comes to their accessories – a part of the brand that its best known for.

One-half of the ready-to-wear pieces boasted a British feel as it was presented in a color palette of army green, navy, burgundy and white all in either block colors or school-tie stripes. The second half of the show consisted of high-octane shine as, black, sun-yellow and silver lame dazzled in the runway lights, offering observers an evening-wear option.

Complementing the clothing, handbags were equally smart in oversized sack shapes, box zip-arounds with top handles, and an equal measure of cross-body’s to last us till SS18. Booties were the footwear of choice, and the majority were presented in monochrome stripes, lending themselves to the great British Summer showers.
