Runway Report: No.21 Fall 2017

Alessandro Dell’Acqua of No. 21 looked to Italian film and stage actress, Anna Magnani for his Fall 2017 collection-muse. The star sparked creative fuel for the range, and with it, emerged a fusion of modernist-glam meets sporty-chic.

The No. 21 Fall show was awash with layering tips and tricks. The on-trend turtle-neck was peeping through the likes of the blue menswear shirt, which is still in the atmosphere for next season may we add, as well as ruffled bib blouses. Slip dresses were placed over shirts, while chunky varsity-like knits were paired well over dainty chiffon printed midi dresses.

Dell’Acqua’s color palette of choice didn’t veer too far off earthy tones, except for a bright unripe strawberry hue, with both red and green elements of the fruit coming through. Visions of terracotta, pale stone blue and tobacco were constructed into a wearable wardrobe worthy of a woman who could change her mind day to day and still have something iconic to wear.

We particularly loved the monochrome turtleneck, paired with blue shirting, a heavy duty red sweater with fur collar, and tweed bloomers. Followed by the car landscape printed sweater layered under a tweed pencil slip dress, elastic and hardware belt, tomato ankle socks, and jeweled evening sandals. A look that could effortlessly take you from morning to night, without a care in the world. Anna Magnani would be proud.
