Runway Report: Prabal Gurung Fall 2016

Backstage there was a mood board full of romantic and nature focused images (pink roses, detailed feathers, women with rouge lips and blushing cheeks) and centered amongst the collage was Lord Byron’s She Walks in Beauty, providing a bit of insight into Prabal’s inspiration for wanting to create a collection that was all about ‘a place where magical realism reigns.’

Slightly undone but extremely luxe, his girls came down the runway in silhouettes that tended to lay away from the body – even his evening wear, although detailed thoroughly with various embellishments, had plenty of give – allowing for both comfort and style to appear within each garment. And even with his evening wear being the clear anchor of the collection, our hearts went out to many of the chic outerwear and RTW pieces – like a black onyx pony-hair dress and the navy, white and grey fur coat which appeared almost as a night sky on a snowy evening.

Imaginative and feminine with the signature Prabal Gurung edge, we’ll be more than happy to experience our surroundings – as per his wishes – in his designs come Fall.
