Runway Report: Ralph & Russo FW18 Couture

Ralph & Russo have steadily become a household name for couture. As a growing brand with locations opening left, right and center, the design duo are not letting their fame stagnate their work, and if anything, are powering up as the season’s go by.

Their Fall 2018 Couture collection drew inspiration from the French icon Jacqueline de Ribes, and the pair wanted to take the audience on a trip to the modern-day eighties. “We wanted to set the tone for the early Eighties era of bold, sexy femininity,” said Tamara Ralph after the show. And did they, the entire line up was a bright, bold and sultry collection that made our eyes dance.

From intricate beadwork to delicate feather detailing and silhouettes that will make heads turn, It was tough to choose just a handful of pieces to wax lyric about, especially when we are looking to the Universe to manifest the entire line into our wardrobes. The common thread to run through the range was that of empowerment. Each dress and ensemble breathed an air of confidence and power, almost as though they were added accessories that come with the outfit.

The sheer black and gold speckled gown with plunging neckline, thigh-high slit, and tulle brooch would make for a stunning red carpet look. While the neon yellow, corset-bodiced maxi with pleated gathers and a trailing scarf would be ideal for that destination wedding that is on your calendar. Or, (and the list goes on) you can opt-in to pack the multi-tonal cover-up in highlighter pink, powder blue and white, cuffed with beading, for your next beach trip. And finally, a dress so wonderful, a sentence will simply not do. A midnight noir, sheer-tiered taffeta dress with galaxy metallic flecks, a deep-v neckline, and statement shoulders. A style so iconic, you’ll want to sleep in it.
