Runway Report: Sophia Webster Fall 2015

Shoe designer Sophia Webster turned to Gwen Stefani’s No Doubt era and Victor Vasarely for inspiration this season. The ‘Freak Like Me’ collection was everything you want from Webster – fun, spontaneous and beautifully unconventional.

The models, a gaggle of circus-ready creatures, succeeded in showcasing the line of trainers, pumps, sky-high sandals and kinky lace-up, thigh-high boots. The tongue-in-cheek references were all there too, with heart motifs and speech bubbles displaying ‘Boss Lady’,  ‘Miss Thang’ and more, seen on the front of pumps and shaping clutch bags.

A sketchy plaid was cute, as seen on outsize bows on peep-toes, while lumberjack checks and leopard print made a comeback, covering lace-up booties and mini backpacks. As we’ve come to expect, texture was key too – alongside the now famous oversized stitch, iridescent shimmer, stripes of sequins and even knitted panels were all spotted.
