Runway Report: Tibi Fall 2016

We’re always fans of everything Amy Smilovic creates and Fall 2016 was no different as we were buzzing with excitement from the moment the lights lowered until the last model left the runway.

This season, Tibi’s collection was built on a foundation of independence and it rejuvenated our imagination and intrigue in how we want to dress for the upcoming year. With military elements strung throughout each ensemble – seen in epaulette’s, rows of gold buttons, shades of military green and sets of cargo pockets which found their way from the front of silk blouses to the side of wide-legged leather trousers – with her sharp expertise of mixing masculine and feminine, Amy was able to translate a theme, (although executed by many others), into something not only all her own but fresh and covetable once again.

The silhouettes were fluid and the color palette rich (inspired by painter George Tooker) – think onyx, bordeaux, navy and quartz – all of which were shown in luxe materials like pony-hair, silk, metallic mohair, velvet and sequined knits. Our favorite pieces? The uber cool harness vests, a snuggle worthy teddy bear coat and trousers like the white and leather cargo or onyx pony-hair that were both strong and sensual.
