Runway Report: Tod’s Fall 2016

It’s about time we redefined the classic plaid print, and Tod’s fall 2016 ready to wear did just that. With new takes on typical gingham designs, Tod’s unexpected squiggles and luxe tassels gave their classic silhouettes a super mod and eclectic update. The collection mixed both linear and molten: fur throws and coats melded with tailored suits and structured pattern. Tod’s stuck with a classic rainbow of creams, blacks and browns, but added just the right amount of color, with powerful teal greens, soft reds, and electric purples.

Tod’s suit jackets, coats, and tailored pants truly ridefined the gingham game with color play this season. A black and white wool plaid suit donned electric purple fur, while bright burgundy fur dressed up a cream colored gingham suit jacket and plain pant. It is this use of contrast in texture and color that proved so effective in Tod’s fall 2016 collection, for they truly have given “classic” a Warhol update.
