Runway Report: Zac Posen Fall 2015

Naomi Campbell had Zac Posen‘s audience in awe as she closed his fall 2015 show in a ruby glittered taffeta ballgown at the Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal.

His latest collection was much more fluid and playful than his signature slinky cut dresses, although those did make an appearance – the stand out being an emerald green sequined number beautifully worn by Devon Windsor.

His daywear contained plenty of clean, wearable ensembles, accessorized with sunglasses and mink scarves. There were cashmere cardigans, floor-length coats, and flared stovepipe pants in shades of plum, oxblood and green, which compared to a sea of muted greys, blues and blacks on other runways, was a welcome sight.

His evening dresses came to life with dynamic movement. Necklines featured both wide and plunging cuts to elegantly highlight the décolletage, while unexpected cutouts appeared throughout giving movement and light.

Posen said in a backstage interview that he mixed his muses for fall. “We wanted more fluidity on the runway. I was feeling the glamour of Grace Kelly meets the spice of Chaka Khan. I draped most of the collection myself, on weekends. In my quiet moments,” the designer said.
