Runway Report: Zimmermann AW18

Pointed toe snakeskin boots, laced up leather corset belts and statement shearlings,  Nicky Zimmermann gave her namesake ruffled romance the heroine treatment for FW18 in a collection of statement suiting, strong shoulders and nods to the West. Tiered ruffles and necktie accents met prairie florals and a muted desert toned palette of leathers and silks in minimalistic maxis and, boot tucked pants.

The collection juxtaposed the Aussie label’s feminine frills with utility in a way that was both modern and wearable while nodding to strong women of the past, independent, unwavering and trailblazing in style and standpoint. Looks were accented with functional belt bags and single sweeping chain earrings and models wore their hair windswept with freshly flushed cheeks and a sunlit glow.
In a time that calls for strong willed women, the Zimmermann woman is not only dressing decadently, but dressing for doing things, and that is just the kind of statement and staple our wardrobe is looking for this coming season.
