Runway Report: Zimmermann SS16

When it comes to well-crafted romance, few do it as well as Zimmermann, and SS16 was no exception. Lace, lace-up, embroidery and eyelets paraded the runway in a series of youthful flounced dresses, ruffled and pleated skirts, and a few rompers with serious chic factor.  Luxe and embellished, it was a collection you wanted to reach out onto the runway and touch.

An all white palette transitioned into dusty pinks and florals and stripes, with a nod to old world travel and the days of donning your best dress for a train ride across the countryside, complete with matching embellished box suitcases and wispy updos. The Zimmermann SS16 girl was fresh-faced and ready for adventure.

Sleeves billowed and trumpeted, and high-necklines were met with lace-up shoulder details that felt edgy and fresh.  Trapeze dresses lent free-spirited moments, while suiting elements with just the right nip and tuck emphasized the immaculate tailoring of the collection as a whole in a way that celebrated femininity.  Whereas resort was all about the print and color palette, Spring is all about careful craftsmanship and intricate design details and the art of fashion.

These are pieces to be worn, admired, kept, and shared, and something tells us we’ll be seeing a lot of them soon.
