Runway Review: Rebecca Taylor Spring 2015

As of today, think of Rebecca Taylor as the leading lady of spring – partly because we’ve been dreaming of her sublime SS15 collection and those sheer, 3D printed cropped tops ever since yesterday’s show, but also because she forced us to reconsider those initial thoughts that come to our mind when we think of summer fashion. Take the color scheme, for a start. While the pastel palette was beautiful in its own right – albeit being typically spring – what really made it noteworthy was the juxtaposing element, such violets working against a vibrant oranges or blues, which looked especially striking on feminine and, again sheer, dresses. There was a brilliant pop of deep blue – that came in the form of a culottes jumpsuit (definitely worth a gazillion applauds) – after the breezy and daintily printed dresses (note: the ruffles and deep necklines are everything), narrowly pleated skirts and wide pants made favourable appearances. There was more of a luxe vibe towards the end of the show, with embellished sleeves particularly standing out.
