Runway Review: Sportmax Spring 2015

“Rough around the edges” was given an entirely new meaning during Sportmax‘s Spring 2015 runway show. Rather than messy and unpolished, each design was elevated to a new interpretation of what could be considered chic and feminine all with a relaxed appeal.  There was a large emphasis on natural fibers with wool, raffia, leather and canvas taking a primary role within designs like boxy blazers, trousers, cropped wrapped tops and shin sweeping dresses – often with unraveling edges – and could easily be taken from day to night.

Cinching at the waist was another key component as sashes criss-crossed into twisted knots around the waist on everything from dress coats and sheath dresses to strapless playsuits and high-waisted midi skirts. Checkered plaids were shown in an organic state, large and slightly blurred providing an expressive and artistic pattern different than your typical gingham. Covetable, cool and superbly wearable, with so much to offer, Sportmax‘s SS15 collection will easily transition us from Winter to Spring and beyond.
