Shop the Trend: Tying the Knot

While summer is always known as the primary season for people to “tie-the-knot” in a martial sense, it seems that designers took the idea quite literally. Whether for function to complete a look (like the Joseph Chestnut Max Sleeveless Suede Wrap Dress or the Acne Studios Hava oversized wool coat), updating a classic silhouette (like the Thakoon Addition white cotton side tie shirt dress or floral Zimmermann trouser), creating illusion or simply to add layers of texture and intrigue.

The best part about this trend? You can create the look with things that are already in your closet. Take any kind of button-up blouse (poplin, chambray, safari etc.) and leave the bottom few buttons undone. Tie a knot and tuck the rest of the blouse into anything from a leather mini or colorful pencil skirt to distressed skinnies. Another idea? Dressing up your basics. Throw on a shift dress and tie a woven blouse around the dress right below your natural waist (so it looks like it’s all one garment). It will immediately update such a simple piece with minimal effort.
