The Corner Store in Berlin

The Corner Store

Heaven in The Corner

Berlin has become like a second home to me over the past few years. During our various travels, my boyfriend Johannes showed me what the city has to offer. From Galleries and amazing Museums, Theaters and Operas to historic sights and trendy little neighborhoods with cool cafes and beautiful parks frequented by a lot of international people, the city is as cosmopolitan as Manhattan with a heavy dose of local charm. We usually rent bicycles and cruise around the city, lock them at any convenient drop-off point, just like the ones in Paris, Stockholm or London and explore different areas of the so lively and vibrant capital of Germany. After a lunch one day, Johannes and I were strolling around the eastern Berlin center near the Gendarmenmarkt, where he pointed out The Corner Shop to me. A hip boutique blending au courant designers (think AlaiaCarven and Celine) with classics (BalenciagaTom Ford and YSL), it was as if someone had combined Bergdorfs and Kirna Zabete in one location. Endless styles of Christian Louboutins – some of which I had not seen before – along with impossible to find Alexander McQueen clutches, cool gadegts and special edition iPhone covers, digital cameras or jewelry were showcased in chic, lucite vitrines opposite a shelf full of well selected magazines. The Corner Store also features an eclectic selection of rare fashion and photography books which are perfect for sprucing ones coffee table or as a cherished gift to a friend. To top it off, the inventory includes beautiful home fragrances and candles. Likewise, a small section of the Store is dedicated to the fashion forward man, who looks for selected pieces from designers like Dior, Thom Browne, YSL or Lanvin.
