Trend Report: Military

Oh sure, you’ve seen and heard it before, the military trend. What with its large gold flat-faced buttons and navy and olive green colorways. However, this season, rather than just American fatigues providing a theme, there was a different time frame that was being showcased altogether. Sure, some of the former was spotted in collections like Tibi and Andrew Gn (a lot were even interpreted into dresses and gowns as seen at Dior and Bibhu Mohapatra) but it took an even more interesting turn when looking at the 18th century, British-soldier inspired jackets of Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci or the almost petticoat appearance at Camilla & Marc and Rachel Zoe.

Bold piping, rounded buttons, exaggerated shoulders and cropped silhouettes added to this new (yet older) military look, providing a much-needed refresh to a trend that tends to show itself time and time again.
