Trend Report SS17: Heavy Cargo

A trend typically reserved for the boys, Spring 2017’s runway shows had cargo pockets front and center (and on the side of trousers and covering blouses, etc.) Transformed into more feminine versions of themselves, the bulk was removed and rich fabrics like lace, silk and suede stood in for traditional khaki. With proportions of all shapes and sizes, like at Marni where they were statement makingly oversized or at Chloe where they blended into a chic monochrome look they were all about style this time around, rather than utility.
