1. SEATING IS A TOP PRIORITY
Nobody at any party has fun sitting on the ground all night. Even if you’re outdoors, it’s not a camp-out; it’s a party. One of the most important things to consider when purchasing outdoor furniture is to make sure it’s durable to withstand the elements. If the piece of furniture is going to be in the sun all day, consider a Sunbrella fabric that guarantees a five-year warranty against fading. Also, make sure the construction of the furniture you are using is rust-resistant steel, or engineered hardwood that will not split from heat or mold from rain. Lastly, make sure it’s comfortable! There is nothing like outdoor furniture that looks good, but sits like a brick. Test it out before purchasing it!

2. WHO SAYS RUGS ARE ONLY FOR INDOORS?
Recently, indoor/outdoor rugs have flooded the market place. Many people swear by these rugs because of their durability in high-traffic areas indoor and their resistance to moisture in outdoor spaces. When designing your outdoor space, a rug is an essential part of the equation. It is the element in the space that can tie everything together (just like your indoor area rugs). Most importantly, a lot of the materials for decks (wood, concrete, or tiles), don’t feel great underneath your feet. An outdoor rug with a mat can make all the difference, ensuring your friends’ manicured toes are comfortable throughout the entire night.

3. TIME TO GET AL FRESCO
When you are entertaining your friends, a dining area is an key element for outdoor space. When sourcing dining room tables and chairs, look for dining options with flexible seating arrangements like a table, chairs, and bench. Look for stackable or foldable chairs, even stools that can pulled up to the table for extra seating. This will keep you prepared for any last-minute plus ones. You want as many flexible seatings options as possible.
4. LIGHT IT UP!
If you’re at all like me, you enjoy a good party that goes into the wee hours of the night. Well, unless your outdoor space has some porch lights, you can forget about the late night soiree. You need to add lighting to your outdoor space. A string of lights overhead, outdoor sconces, and LED lighting strategically placed throughout your outdoor patio can make a big impact on evening with your friends.

Any good guest knows to bring some form of refreshments if they ever want to be invited back to your home again. So make sure that at your next event that you have a designated space for these party gifts. It could be as simple as a bar cart that’s ready for guests to drop off drinks. Just make sure you already have the accessories for the night ready like a bucket of ice, cups, and a bottle opener to make sure the libations are free-flowing. Just remember, your outdoor space is a retreat from the everyday, so make sure your it meets your entertaining needs for the season.
