Olivia Palermo Beauty’s Packaging is a Timeless Treasure

Earlier this week, Olivia teased the designs behind her debut collection of Olivia Palermo Beauty. Taking cues from a vintage gold bracelet gifted to her for a momentous birthday, the design has cues of Art Deco influences with modernity. “I wanted it to feel luxurious, but practical,” says Olivia. “No one wants to lug around a super heavy piece of makeup with them,” she adds with a laugh. However, the metal pieces are still weighty, something Olivia wanted combat commonly used plastics and a nice feel. Olivia applied this ethos to all touchpoint of Olivia Palermo Beauty including the exterior packaging featuring a fine linen finish which is entirely recyclable. “My favorite part was bringing the elevated quality of the product together with the packaging. The gold foil logo is that little shimmering punctuation.” 

The gold on Olivia Palermo Beauty might trigger some memories of Olivia on the street or front row at the shows, as the lipstick and eyeshadow palettes draw their inspiration from Olivia’s own bracelet and jewelry archive. “After we locked in the product offering and the colors, I wanted the shells to be equally fabulous,” beams Olivia. “So I worked with the team on interpreting the chain link and texture from some of my favorite pieces onto our outer shells.”  The results are remarkable with custom tooled, grooved finishes meant to complement one’s own accessories adding a refined touch to even the most humdrum space. “Makeup always makes me feel my best, so why not have it wrapped in something fabulous.”

That mindset carries over into the exterior packaging which Olivia developed after her own correspondence. “I still hand-write thank you notes and letters to friends here and abroad,” says Olivia. “So I wanted to capture the polish of my stationery for our outer packaging.” The seafoam-green hue box gets a dose of Olivia’s signature flair through signature hunter green text on a fine linen paper. “I love the texture and that it’s fully recyclable,” says Olivia. “But it also just sets the tone for the collection on the right note. I want people to get excited when they purchase Olivia Palermo Beauty and feel that elevated experience at every moment,” she says. “But even better is what’s inside. The formulas are as luxurious as the packaging!”
