Sun protection with a stylish touch—these are the best sunglass trends eyed by Olivia.

Last week was #nationalsunglassesday, but for Olivia, every day is a chance to accent her outfit with a smart accessory—no matter the occasion. "I've always thought of sunglasses as the final punctuation to an outfit—something to enliven even the simplest look," she explains, "It may seem small, but choosing the right frame makes me smile nowadays as it means heading outdoors with Mr. Butler for some fresh air. Now that it's summer and more friends are seeing each other—virtually or at a socially distant gathering—I wanted to break down my favorite silhouettes." From classic cat-eye shapes to lucite, retro-inspired frames, here, she highlights the five top sunglass trends to know and try all season long.
1. Mirror Image
I love classic and wayfarer silhouettes because they're generally universally flattering and look fab in any material. When done with colorful, relective lenses, the styles truly pop.
2. Retro Refinement:
Two of my favorite things are jewelry and traveling to destinations like Palm Beach. To me, seashell-hued acetate and tawny lucite frames perfectly meld the town's old-world flavor with a modern flair.
3. Futuristic Frames
One way I like to bring a similar sense of vibrancy found in my wardrobe to my accessories, is through bold sunglasses that mix metals with architectural silhouettes. Worn with complementary tones, it's an eye-catching look.
4. Subtle Shade
There are some occasions when looking through rose (or sunflower!) colored lenses works well by adding an effortless finish to any outfit. My husband Johannes often wears similar transparent shapes that easily transition from day to evening.
5. Cool Cat Eyes
1950s screen icons like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Marilyn Monroe all gravitated towards this sleek and elongated silhouette that frames the face elegantly. And whether you opt for translucent or more decorative sunnies, this shape blends movie star wattage with regal polish.
